10 Makeup Tips For Ladies With Pale Skin

For some women, getting a deep bronze tan is something they can only dream of, because for girls with pale skin, all the sun will do is turn them a bright shade of pink.

And there’s your first makeup tip for ladies who have pale skin: make SPF your best friend!

Makeup tips for pale skin can be hard to find and, as ladies with a fair complexion will know, using makeup to give your skin a bronzed glow can be pretty tricky.

So, we’ve compiled a list of ten great makeup tips to help ladies with pale skin make the most of their gorgeous alabaster complexion.

1. Take it easy with powder

If you have pale skin, then powder can easily take on that cakey look, so you should be careful not to overdo powder.

You should experiment with different powders to see which type looks the best on you but you might be better off using one of the lighter shades, or even just a tinted moisturiser.

You could also try using a BB cream; that will still give you good coverage, but without looking cakey.

2. Use bronzer sparingly

A good way to add colour to your skin is, of course, to use some bronzer. Apply bronzer after you have applied powder and foundation, bur remember to use it sparingly.

To get a natural, sun-kissed look, apply it to the apples of your cheeks, to the perimeter of your face and a little to the bridge of your nose, basically to all the areas where the sun would naturally hit your face.

3. Get a natural looking glow with blush

Blush can look wonderful on pale skin, it will give you a natural looking, rosy glow. Just like bronzer, though, you can’t afford to overdo the blush, or you will look like a painted doll.

Apply just a small amount to the apples of your cheeks, and then add a touch of blush to the bridge of your nose and right above the arch of your eyebrows, for that natural and youthful rosy glow.

The best colours to match with a pale complexion are shades of pale pink or peach.

4. Fill in your brows

If you have fair hair to go with your pale complexion, then you may need to add a bit more definition to your brows.

Keep your eyebrows trimmed, neat and tidy, but do fill in any sparse patches with an eyebrow pencil or brow gel. If your eyebrows are fair in colour, then they can easily get lost on your face.

5. Use softer shades of lipstick

You could try using bright lipsticks, but they may make your skin look even paler. The softer shades of lipsticks, like soft pinks, and apricots, will probably contrast better with your pale complexion.

The brighter shades of lipstick usually look better on olive, or dark skin, but if you do want to create a more dramatic look, give it a go!

6. Keep your skin well moisturised

One of the disadvantages of pale skin is that blemishes and dry patches will show up far more than they would on darker skin; so, as well as using sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun, you will probably also need to moisturise and nourish your skin regularly to keep it looking fresh and blemish-free.

Use a light moisturiser every day, and a thicker moisturiser at night time before you go to bed. Or, if you prefer natural products, then you can also moisturise your skin using sweet almond oil, rosehip oil or avocado oil.

7. Match your foundation to your neckline

A common mistake that fair skinned ladies make is that they chose the wrong tint for their foundation and, unfortunately, fair skin makes this is even more noticeable.

You could get a professional advice at a good makeup store to help you chose the right shade or, if you would prefer to do it yourself, the best thing to do is to match the shade of foundation to the shade of the skin at your neckline.

8. Use dark mascara

With pale skin you can really make your eyes pop and one of the easiest ways to make your eyes the focus of attention is to use dark or black mascara.

Plums and blues just don’t have the same effect on pale skin, because they don’t create the same contrast.

9. Make good use of concealer

Freckles and blemishes will really show up on fair skin, so use concealer to smooth them out. Use a concealer that is the same tone as your skin, apply it to the areas of your skin that you want to cover, and then smooth out all the edges, so that it blends in well. Proper blending of makeup is essential if you have pale skin, so don’t rush it!

10. Avoid products that contain harsh ingredients

If you have got fair skin then the chances are that you have sensitive skin too, and that means that your skin can be easily dried out.

To avoid aggravating your skin, wash your face daily with a gentle cleanser, not ordinary soap, and avoid using any product with ingredients that could dry out your skin, like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Natural products will be the best for keeping your pale skin looking beautiful.
